Sundays at Calvary

Our goal is to provide a place for people to worship, learn, and serve.  And whatever one’s spiritual place, we desire to welcome them in the name of Jesus Christ.  Here’s what happens on a typical Sunday morning.

Sunday School

From 9-10am, we have classes that seek to provide systematic instruction in the Bible and how it applies to all of life.  We believe this is a lifelong process and offer age-specific classes from preschool through adults each week from September to June.  Classes meet in rooms on both the first and second floors, but if it’s your first time with us, come downstairs to the Fellowship Hall (which is where the adult classes meet) and ask the first person you see questions about children’s classes.  The downstairs level can be reached by taking a right turn as you enter the main entrance and then your first left.  There is both an elevator and a staircase.

Worship Service

Our worship service begins at 10:15 and generally lasts a little over an hour.  If you’ve attended Sunday School already, then you just need to come upstairs (don’t forget to collect any children).  If you’re arriving for the service, you’ll be greeted as soon as you arrive in the main entrance and given a bulletin that contains the order of service for the day as well as announcements about upcoming activities at Calvary.

Our worship time is designed to be friendly to children, with a special message in each service and bulletins with age-appropriate activities. For children up to age four, we offer supervised care by trained volunteers in our nursery room downstairs. In addition, we have a designated space for parents and their young children in a room at the back of the sanctuary which provides the ability to listen and full visibility of the service through a glass window.

If you have any questions, please ask one of our greeters with the nametags. It would be their pleasure to assist you.

After the Service

After the worship service our pastor will be available in the gathering space outside of the sanctuary to greet you, answer your questions, or pray with you. Feedback about your visit is very helpful to us and our pastor would love to get your contact information and hear about your experience.  More information about Calvary is available on the tables in the gathering space or on our website at calvarynj.org.
