Sundays Mornings at Calvary
Our goal is to provide a place for people to worship, learn and serve. And whatever one’s spiritual place, we want to welcome them in the name of Jesus. Here’s what happens on a typical Sunday morning:
Worship Service
*Services are also available on our Calvarynj YouTube channel.
Our worship service begins at 10:00am and generally lasts a little over an hour. (*During the summer months, we change our worship service time to 9am. This takes place from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.) When arriving for the service, you’ll be greeted as soon as you enter the main entrance. You’ll also be given a bulletin that contains the order of service for the day as well as announcements about upcoming activities at Calvary. If you have any questions, please ask one of our greeters (wearing nametags) who will be visible in the foyer when you arrive. It would be their pleasure to assist you.
Children are welcome in our worship service. For older children, special bulletins are available on the table in the foyer. For infants and toddlers, from newborn to age 3, we offer supervised care by screened volunteers in our nursery room downstairs. Children are dismissed to Nursery during the Pastoral Prayer through the end of the service. In addition, we have a designated space for parents and their young children in a room at the back of the sanctuary which provides the ability to listen and have full visibility of the service through a glass window.
After the worship service our pastor will be available to greet you in the foyer and tell you more about Calvary.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School classes seek to provide systematic instruction of the Bible and how it applies to all of life. We believe this is a lifelong process and offer age-specific classes from preschool through adults each week from September to the end of May. Below is our schedule for the 2024-25 Sunday School year.
- Our Elementary School Children (age 4 through 5th grade) will spend most of the year continuing their survey of the Bible, starting with King David and going all the way to the end of the Old Testament by the end of April. They use a curriculum called The Biggest Story published by Crossway.
- Our Junior/Senior High students will be starting the year with an Apologetics course in the fall. Topics will range from the historicity of Jesus to questions about why we can trust the Bible. They use a curriculum called Implementing God’s Word published by One Story Ministries.
- The Adults will start the year with a Bible Content course surveying the historical period in the Old Testament from the time of the Judges through the exile of God’s people after the fall of Jerusalem. We will be using a curriculum called Dust to Glory (including teaching videos) developed by R.C. Sproul and produced by Ligonier Ministries. Once this is finished on Nov 10, we will begin a new course entitled: Proclaiming Calvary: Sharing the Good News of Life, Hope, and Joy through Jesus. This will run from Nov 17-Dec 15. Check back for further updates for our adult winter and spring series!
