The Kiewiet family arrived in Australia to join the Brisbane Church Planting Team of MTW in April of 1986. Dave and Jan have four children: Rachel, Nathan, Amy, and Rebecca. Upon arrival in Queensland, the Sunshine State of Australia, Dave took up the work of pastoring a small, struggling Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Later, their family moved to a new area. On Easter Sunday of 1989, Dave, Jan, and their children, were privileged to be a part of the beginning of the Presbyterian Church at Indooroopilly. A year later the church was officially organized with a charter membership of 45 people. In early 1990, the church began a ministry to students on the University of Queensland Campus. Just before leaving on HMA in November 1990, the church elected its own eldership and called its first pastor. Dave has been involved in the training of men for the ministry by teaching various courses at the Westminster Theological College of Queensland. Since 1987 Jan has had the opportunity to teach the Word of God, weekly, to children in the Australian state schools.
