Ron was raised in Pennsylvania and Francine in Paris, France. After college, Ron went to Jerusalem to obtain his Masters in Hebrew studies where he met and married Francine. Francine managed a store while Ron taught at the Institute of Holy Land Studies. In Philadelphia, Ron finished his Ph.D., taught in seminary and worked in campus ministry and Francine ran a gift shop. In the early 1980's they moved to the Pacific Northwest where Ron taught in a seminary and was ordained. They received a call to serve in France under MTW where they have been serving since 1988.

After a term in church planting, Ron was called to the Faculte libre de Theologie reformee in Aix-en-Provence, the only Reformed and evangelical seminary in France and the French-speaking world, where he teaches Hebrew and Old Testament and directs the Masters and the decentralized studies programs. Francine cares for her family and teaches Sunday School.

The Bergeys have five children: Natacha (10-23-83), Danya (1-08-86), David (4-03-88), Caroline (12-31-91) and Jeremie (8-31-94).
